Similar to Taylor Hall, Kyle Palmieri would also be a rental. He’s on the final year of a $4.65 million deal with New Jersey. With the Devils going through a rebuild it makes sense to try to get some sort of asset back in return for him to help for the future.
Palmieri has an eight-team no-trade clause, but you’d have to imagine he’d want the chance to play for a contending team and not have to move his family all that far from New Jersey to Long Island.
I don’t think the cost is going to be as high for Palmieri as it is for Hall, so a second and a secondary prospect like Blade Jenkins should be enough. The Islanders would be getting someone who scored 25+ goals each of the past two years.
So far in 2021, he has 12 points (4 goals, 8 assists) for the struggling Devils. You’d have to imagine that the right-winger would produce a little more in the Islanders’ top-six though.
