NEWARK, NEW JERSEY – JANUARY 14: Kyle Palmieri #21 of the New Jersey Devils looks on during warm ups before the home opening game against the Boston Bruins at Prudential Center on January 14, 2021 in Newark, New Jersey. (Photo by Elsa/Getty Images)

Similar to Taylor Hall, Kyle Palmieri would also be a rental. He’s on the final year of a $4.65 million deal with New Jersey. With the Devils going through a rebuild it makes sense to try to get some sort of asset back in return for him to help for the future.

Palmieri has an eight-team no-trade clause, but you’d have to imagine he’d want the chance to play for a contending team and not have to move his family all that far from New Jersey to Long Island.

I don’t think the cost is going to be as high for Palmieri as it is for Hall, so a second and a secondary prospect like Blade Jenkins should be enough. The Islanders would be getting someone who scored 25+ goals each of the past two years.

So far in 2021, he has 12 points (4 goals, 8 assists) for the struggling Devils. You’d have to imagine that the right-winger would produce a little more in the Islanders’ top-six though.

The Lineup:

Bellows – Barzal – Eberle

Beauvillier – Nelson – Palmieri

Bailey – Pageau – Wahlstrom

Martin – Cizikas – Clutterbuck
