New York Islanders head coach Barry Trotz is going to make some changes to his lineup for tonight’s game. Who’s in, who’s out and who goes where?
Going into tonight’s game in Washington, the New York Islanders aren’t in the most inspiring form. They’re 2-2-1 over their last five games and haven’t looked engaged outside of a few periods versus the Rangers and one against the Capitals a few games ago.
With the New York Islandesr head coach Barry Trotz will make changes to his lineup. Seems there could be a change or two to the lines according to his media availability earlier today.
So what is he going to do?
The top line certainly needs a refresh. Having Leo Komarov up there never really worked. The underlying numbers say that Barzal and Leo were “good” together but the overlying number (like production) shows it wasn’t working at all.
Putting Palmieri up there is a good idea. The Islanders brought him in to be a productive member by playing big minutes with other productive members on this team. So far he’s been restricted to a middle-six role. Again, the move would make a lot of sense.
My preference is Kyle Palmieri on this list and my dark-horse candidate is Oliver Wahlstrom. I think it makes all the sense in the world to have the rookie up there, but I’m not sure I trust Trtoz to make that decision.
