Trade 1

The Athletic article gives two factors for this potential trade. The first is that the Blues owner Tom Stillman still views the championship window as open, so picks and prospects are probably unlikely.

The second is that St Louis may have to retain some of the $7.5 million cap hit in order for teams to make it work.

Here, the Islanders are moving Jordan Eberle who has three years left at $5.5 million AAV, and RFA Anthony Beauvillier. In return is Tarasenko (St. Louis is retaining $1 million over the next two years) and RFA Robert Thomas.

Last year, Thomas had 12 points (3 goals, 9 assists) in 33 games playing on the third line. He’s solid depth and lessens the blow of having to lose Anthony Beauvillier in a trade. The rest of my signings and trades are as followed:

Lineup

Lee – Barzal – Tarasenko

Bailey – Nelson – Wahlstrom

Bellows – Pageau – Thomas

Martin – Cizikas – Clutterbuck

Pelech – Pulock

Hjalmarsson – Dobson

Salo – Mayfield

Varlamov/Sorokin

This leaves the Islanders with $1.2 million in cap space.
