The New York Islanders youth movement was put on full display in Brooklyn last night. Both Josh Ho-Sang and Mathew Barzal shined.

With the New York Islanders trying to get back to the playoffs many fans, myself included, were clamoring for Garth Snow to make a move. Garth was able to land Jordan Eberle in an absolute steal of a trade but that was essentially it for acquiring NHL level assets.

So, the Islanders will be forced to rely on youth in 2017-2018. So far, the Isles youth has looked fantastic in the preseason. Last night was a prime example of it.

Josh Ho-Sang and Brock Nelson were recently paired together on a new look line. It has potential to work wonders and we saw why on their first shift of the night. Josh Ho-Sang was able to use his speed and set up Brock Nelson to nail in an easy rebound.

We know how frustrating Brock Nelson can be, but Ho-Sang can really complement his game. Ho-Sang’s speed and playmaking ability will allow Brock to put that wrister on display.

That wasn’t the only sweet play from the Islanders youth. Check out this beauty from Mathew Barzal:

Barzal showed off his electrifying speed with that goal to give the Isles a two-goal lead. This new look, Doug Weight coached, Islander team is easy to like. They play fast and they create a ton of offensive chances. One thing for certain, this years team will put up points. Watch out for the youth movement in Brooklyn.

News: Islanders dominate vs Devils in Brooklyn

To be fair the team the New York Islanders faced had few NHL regulars. So take that 3-0 result with a grain of salt. But man, was it filled with highlights.

The New York Islanders don’t seem to be in on the Matt Duchene sweepstakes any longer. No worries we still have Mathew Barzal to take his hypothetical spot as the Islanders second line center.
