Current and former New York Islanders players share their thoughts and experiences with Charles Wang on the day of the former owners passing.

Yesterday was a tough day for the New York Islanders as their former owner, Charles Wang passed away at 74 years old. Wang was a big part of keeping the Islanders on Long Island and the fans and players appreciated him for that.

The passing of Wang is a tough loss for the NHL, and his former players wanted to send him off the right way with some kind words. Between keeping the Islanders in New York and expanding the NHL’s reach to China, Charles Wang had a huge impact on the NHL.

Here are some tweets from former Islanders who wanted to share their thoughts on Mr. Wang:

This is only the beginning of it. The Rangers held a moment of silence before their game last night in one of the classier moves in recent memory. The Rangers were hosting the Calgary Flames and former Islander Travis Hamonic was in tears when he learned the news of the passing of Wang. That’s the kind of impact he had, he genuinely cared about his players.

Charles Wang was instrumental for keeping the Islanders in New York and he should be appreciated for doing so. Lou Lamoriello should look to add a patch on the Islanders jersey honoring Charles Wang for the remainder of the season.
