The New York Islanders head to St. Louis to take on the Central Division leaders. Here’s everything to know about tonight’s matchup.

The New York Islanders hit the road for the first time, since they dropped all four games on their last road trip, and are looking for a change of fortune.

The Islanders have been playing good hockey as of late. They have picked up points in their last three games. Most recently they lost in overtime to the Rangers on Tuesday night.

The Blues come into this game playing red hot hockey. They are on a five-game win streak! Their wins have come against New Jersey, Arizona, Dallas, Minnesota, and Chicago.

On Tuesday night, they won a barn burner against the Blackhawks 6-5 at home. The Blues were down 3-2 going into the third. They scored four third-period goals to help win this game.

The Season Series

The last time these teams met was a matinee matchup on Columbus day at the Coliseum. This game was an absolute thriller!

The Islanders went down 1-0 in the first due to a Brayden Schenn goal. The second period contained no goals and the Islanders went into the third down 1-0.

The Third Period started with a Vladimir Tarasenko goal and the Islanders were down 2-0 with under ten minutes left in regulation. With less than six minutes remaining in the game, Brock Nelson got the Islanders on the board. And the Isles continued to push for the remainder of the game.

The Islanders finally got the break they needed when Mathew Barzal tied the game up with less than 30 seconds remaining in the game!

In overtime, Barzal got the puck and wheeled around the outside of the offensive zone. He skated behind the net and found a wide-open Devon Toews in the slot. Toews one-timed the puck glove side to give the Islanders the 3-2 win!

Thomas Greiss got the win in this one and Barzal led the Isles with 2 points.

This win was the catalyst for the Islanders 17 game point streak and was definitely one to remember for the blue and orange faithful.

The Islanders go for the season sweep tonight!

Tale of the Tape

Betting Odds

The Islanders come into tonight as underdogs, courtesy of the Action Network.

This makes sense because the Blues are on a five-game win streak and the Isles have struggled on the road recently.

Every game matters in a tight playoff race and I expect an extremely close encounter. But I do expect the Islanders to change their luck on the road and win this game.

Players to Watch

JEAN-GABRIEL PAGEAU

Pageau’s arrival has definitely sparked well with Islander fans. He scored in his Isle’s debut and he stuck up for Michael Dal Colle when he was buried by Jacob Trouba. This is what fans love to see: Someone who steps right in and makes an instant impact.

Tonight is the second time we get to see Pageau in Islander colors and the first time on the road.

It will be interesting to see if Pageau will have the same impact as he did in his first game. His goal-scoring and leadership can definitely help the Islanders in this tough matchup.

JADEN SCHWARTZ

Schwartz has been on an absolute tear as of late. In his past five games he has six points (2 goals, 4 assists). He has also been a +7 in those games.

He is definitely the danger man for the Blues. His speed, quickness and vision definitely make him fun to watch.

If the Islanders want to have to success in this game, they must shut Schwartz down. If not, he will cause chaos in the Islanders defensive zone.

Potential Lineups

New York Islanders

The blue and orange will definitely be making some changes tonight. The Islanders faced some tough injury luck against the Rangers with both Andy Greene and Michael Dal Colle leaving the game injured.

Both players are listed as day to day and their injuries do not seem to be long term. There will be more news about the players in the coming hours.

It remains to see who actually plays tonight but we got a good indication that Andy Greene and Cal Clutterbuck might not be fit enough to face the St Louis Blues tonight. Neither was taking part in line drills at the morning skate

The Islanders should line up like this tonight:

Lee-Barzal-Eberle
Beauvillier-Nelson-Brassard
Dal Colle-Pageau-Bailey
Martin-Koivula-Komarov

Leddy-Pulock
Toews-Mayfield
Dobson-Boychuk

Greiss (Varlamov)

Dobson will step in for Andy Greene and play on his off-side again

Greiss is going to get his first start in a while. After an 0.857SV% night against the Rangers, Semyon Varlamov is going to be the backup for tonight. It’s Greiss’s first start since that clunker against the Nashville Predators back on February 13.

St. Louis Blues

The Blues are still missing two of their top players. They are missing Tarasenko and Jay Bouwmeester. Bouwmeester is out for the rest of the season after suffering a cardiac episode on the bench during a game. We wish Jay the best on his road to recovery!

Those two injuries have not stopped the Blues at all! They are currently on fire and are expected to keep the same lineup they have had for most of the win streak.

Here’s how the Blues should line up:

Schwartz-O’Rielly-Schenn
Sanford-Thomas-Perron
Steen-Bozak-Kyrou
Barbashev-Sundqvist-Blias

Gunnarsson-Pieterangelo
Scandella-Parayko
Dunn-Faulk

Binnington (Allen)
