The New York Islanders needed a result. They needed a win and they got one. Thanks to Josh Bailey who had a massive night on the scoresheet.

In our latest NHL20 simulation, the New York Islanders faced the Calgary Flames on Tuesday night. This was a big night for the Islanders after a tough loss to the Pittsburgh Penguins on Sunday night.

Going into this game there was a bit of a lineup change. Anthony Beauvillier was moved up to line two to play with Brock Nelson and Josh Bailey. Andrew Ladd was moved down to Beau’s spot on the third line. The move worked perfectly.

That second line ran the show against the Flames as the Islanders normally dormant offense had a big night.

Josh Bailey’s Big Night

So, going into the game, the Isles lines looked like this:

That looks like what Barry Trotz typically runs out there on game days. And against the Flames the lines worked with the Islanders running away with a stunning 7-0 victory over the Flames.

Scoring starting quickly with Ryan Pulock getting the Islanders on the board within 15 seconds of the game. Cam Talbot would stop the next nine shots he would face in the period to keep the Flames in it after 20.

But things changed quickly in the second period. Jean-Gabriel Pageau would score 44 seconds into the second frame to make it 2-0. Anthony Beauvillier and Josh Bailey would add goals less than four minutes apart to make it 4-0 after 40.

The wheels had fallen off the Flames wagon and the Islanders were taking full advantage to run the score up.

In the third period, the Islanders would yet again score within the opening minute. This time it was Brock Nelson with a goal 54 seconds after puck drop. In the final minutes of regulation, Anders Lee would put the Islanders up by a touchdown before Brock Nelson would add his second of the night for the one-point conversion and a 7-0 scoreline.
