The New York Islanders are two games into their series and some storylines have begun to surface. First, we had Ilya Sorokin’s surprise start in Game 1 and the heroics from Kyle Palmieri and the third line.

In Game 2, the story was the soft goal from Semyon Varlamov followed up by a stellar performance the rest of the way. We also may have to send out the milk cartons for Jordan Eberle and Mathew Barzal.

Those two have been fairly missing in action through the beginning stages of the series and that needs to change. Also, Mitch spoke to Ruslan Ishkakov and will have some updates from their conversation.

Here’s what you can expect from episode 196:

Topics

Kyle Palmieri comes alive and Ilya Sorokin

First, we will get into Kyle Palmieri coming alive and the continued success in the playoffs from JG Pageau. Also, we’d be remiss if we didn’t discuss the impressive playoff debut from Ilya Sorokin in Game 1.

Where is Barzal and Eberle?

Next, we have to send out the missing person alert for Mat Barzal and Jordan Eberle. Both have struggled so far through the first two games.

Down on the Farm

Mitch spoke to Ruslan Ishkakov so we will have updates from their conversation.

Quiz

Mitch is going to quiz me on someone who played 196 games in an Islanders sweater. This guessing game rarely goes well.
