Bridgeport Islanders hold second Hockey and Hops night
Can't get enough New York Islanders hockey? Great. After you've watched the Islanders take on the Canucks at UBS on Thursday and before they take on the Blues at the same venue on Saturday may I suggest a trek across the Long Island sound?
There you'll find the Islanders AHL affiliate who take on the Wilkes-Barrie Scranton Penguins; the Pittsburgh Penguins AHL affiliate. Go for the hockey but get there early for the beers.
New York Islanders AHL affiliate hosts hockey and beer night
Bridgeport is hosting their first Hockey and Hops night of the season before the game against the Penguins this Friday.
Get there early because the tasting gets underway at 4:30 PM. You'll get to sample beers from four local breweries. Get your tickets today for the event here. There are two packages to choose from for $30 and $40.
You'll not only get a few undoubtedly tasty beers but you'll get to see some of the team's future prospects in action too.
Guys like Robin Salo and Simon Holmstrom - who are probably going to have roles on the Islanders soon - have starring roles for Bridgeport. After you've tasted some nice duds watch these future Islanders perform.
Otto Koivula who's having a great year with 36 points in 43 games (second on the team). Arnaud Durandeau pulls up as fourth in team scoring with a strong 26 points in 49 games. Who knows if either of them actually make the NHL but they're having good years and it's forcing the Islanders management to take notice.
And don't forget Jakub Skarek between the posts. The Islanders goalie is one of the most utilized goalies in the AHL with 1617:42 minutes and 28 games played. His 12-10-4 record might not be great but that 2.89GAA and 0.906SV% aren't bad considering the squad in front of him.
