Mat Barzal takes on NY Islanders superfan at Sebonack Golf Club

Less than two months out from the start of NY Islanders training camp, Mat Barzal is getting his competitive juices flowing, taking on an Islanders super fan at one of the world's most spectacular golf courses.

It shouldn't come as a surprise that hockey players love golf, and NY Islanders all-star Mat Barzal is no exception. With the off-season lasting throughout the summer, players have time to relax on the links before gearing up for the season.

Barzal, set to enter his eighth season in the NHL, paired up with Islanders superfan and Barstool Sports personality, Frankie Borrelli, for a round at the world-renowned Sebonack Golf Course.

For those unfamiliar with Sebonack GC, it is a top 100 course in the world and is the only course designed by Jack Nicklaus and Tom Doak.

This isn't the first time Barzal has taken on Barstool Sports on the golf course, as last year Barzal along with Brock Nelson, Anders Lee, and Cal Clutterbuck, played against Borrelli and the other members of Fore Play Golf at The Glen Oaks Club in Old Westbury.

Long Island is known for its impeccable golf courses, and as Borrelli names some of the other famous courses on the southern fork of Long Island, Bazal responds with, "Honestly, the best place in the world."

Watching Barzal golf, two things are immediately evident. His hands carry over from the ice to the links, and his chirping game is in midseason form.

Bazal gets up early on Borrelli, hitting a difficult par putt to give him the lead, and he never looked back.

On just the second hole, Barzal started running his mouth, laying into Borrelli after a chip flew threw the green. Later, when Borrelli mentions that he collects pencils from courses he plays, Barzal gives him a sarcastic, "sweet hobby."

Barzal ultimately claims victory, ending the match with three holes to go.

We don't get to see much of the Islanders outside what is portrayed of them on the ice, so it's nice to see a more relaxed version of themselves in a different atmosphere.

Borrelli being the Islanders fan that he is, tells Brzal, "Hey, let's take this into the season," despite just losing - something all Islanders fans hope to see.
