I have no idea what it's like to drive a Ferrari - probably never will. I drove a 1998 Ford Taurus for most of my young life. It had 200,000 miles on it by the time it broke down in 2011. I now have an SUV with two car seats in the back. Sports cars aren't in my near future.

But I rarely have thought about a Ferrari as much as I did on Thursday, thanks to a humorous and accurate analogy used by New York Islanders head coach Patrick Roy to compare his two goaltenders, Semyon Varlamov and Ilya Sorokin.

The Isles coach received a text message from his father on Thursday morning reminding him of when Francois Allaire, his Montreal goalie coach, compared him and his teammate in a memorable way.

“Brian Hayward, who was my partner at the time, he said he was a Cadillac,” Roy said. “It was comfortable. And then I was the Ferrari. Could be a little more bumpy and all this. So today, we’re going with the Ferrari. We had the Cadillac [in] the first two games. We’re going with the Ferrari."

It's an acknowledgment that Varlamov was just fine the first two games of the series, but down 2-0 and heading home, Roy felt turning the keys over to Sorokin was the perfect scenario to get his franchise goaltender back on the road to turn this series around.

Sorokin had turned a corner toward the end of the season, finishing 3-0-1 in his final four starts. Will Roy's decision result in a joyous ride tonight at UBS Arena, or was he wrong to park the Caddy?
