Update your calendars: Islanders scheduled re-worked, again
NHL schedule makers are working overtime lately as they try to make sure the backlog of postponed games find their way into the league's 82 game schedule. The New York Islanders account for a number of those backlogged games.
Two games from the end of November, four from the end of December, and most recently four upcoming dates from a Western Canadian road trip (plus a stop in Seattle) were postponed. That's ten games to make up. Actually, it's nine. One game from November, a date against the Rangers, was already re-scheduled to St. Patrick's Day (March 17, 2022),
Today, one of the nine postponed games was rescheduled and three other games were moved around.
New York Islanders calendar updates
On Tuesday, the Islanders announced that one previously postponed game, a date against the Flyers (in Philly) from the end of November was rescheduled to January 18th at 7:00 PM.
But the Isles already had a game scheduled for that date. The Blue Jackets were supposed to play at UBS Arena on that date. That game was postponed. So, if you're keeping track of the number of games that still need to be made up, we're back up to nine.
Also today, the Islanders announced they swapped home dates with the Leafs. The Isles were scheduled to play in Toronto later this month (Jan 22) while the Leafs were supposed to play on Long Island in mid-April (April 17). Those two games have been switched.
The Isles will welcome the Leafs to UBS Arena on Jan 22 at 7:00 PM while the Isles will head North of the border on April 17. Again, puck drop is scheduled for 7:00 PM for that game.
So in summation:
NYI vs PH (Nov. 30): Re-scheduled to January 18th @ 7 PM
NYI vs CBJ (Jan. 18): Postponed
NYI @ TOR (Jan. 22): Re-scheduled to April 17th @ 7 PM
NYI vs TOR (Apr. 17): Re-scheduled to January 22nd @ 7 PM
