Enter stage left Mr. Josh Ho-Sang, the 21-year-old first round pick of the New York Islanders makes his debut for the club against Dallas. And I couldn’t be happier.

The league is better with personalities in it, personalities like New York Islanders Josh Ho-Sang. He’s not that typical fly straight, tout the party line, cliché talking hockey player. He’s a brash, has incredible self-confidence, and isn’t shy to let you know about it.

He’s not a character, he’s a personality. And the game of hockey is much better with it, than without. The latter being a real possibility based on Ho-Sang’s career trajectory since the NHL draft in 2014.

We’re all familiar with the story at this point. But it wasn’t a smooth line of progression for Ho-Sang. Getting to the NHL wasn’t the easiest, but he kept doing what he does best and deserved his spot.

Seeing him take the ice in Dallas is years of work paying off, now he’s got to make the most of it. Because he won’t be up for long.

Dallas Sellers Club

Dallas was one the busier teams at the trade deadline making four deals shipping players out.

The lesser of the two Benn brothers was sent to Montréal, Juri Korpikoski moved to Columbus, Johnny Oduya went back to Chicago to make four cups in eight years, and Patrick Eaves went to Anaheim.

Four players left a team that won the Central division just a season ago. A sign of tough times for Lindy Ruff and his boys. But hopefully a good sign for the Islanders who come into town with a better run of form going 6-4-0 in their last ten.

More importantly, the Isles have gone 2-1-0 on the road so far. Dallas is not the same from last year. A win is absolutely in the cards. But then again, the last time I was so sure the Isles could get a win was against Columbus. And we all know how that went.
