If you’re looking for ways to stay connected with the New York Islanders during the 2013-14 NHL season, the team has finally obliged you: the official Islanders iPhone app is now available via the App Store by searching “Islanders.”

The app offers real-time shift changes, advanced stats, post-game video clips, customized game alerts, player profiles and more.

It’s been a common gripe among Islanders fans that the team didn’t have an official app like many of the “name brand” NHL teams, and apparently the Isles PR office heard the call loud and clear. The release of the app will keep the fans up to date throughout the season.

And before we turn off our “promotional” voice, be sure to check out the new site for the Dump and Chase Podcast (http://www.thedumpandchasepodcast.com/), hosted by the Eyes On Isles staff. This site will be updated on a regular basis with the latest episode of the podcast, which will feature a rotating cast of staff members discussing any and all prevalent Islanders and NHL news.

The podcast can also be found on iTunes by searching “dump and chase.” (Be sure to subscribe in order to get the latest content as it’s posted.)

Two Minutes For Tweeting

It’s only a matter of time before John Tavares grows into an NHL superstar who’s recognized league-wide as such. Islanders fans have seen his progression since 2009; soon the rest of the NHL will appreciate just how far he’s come in his development.

The best part about the Yankees’ season coming to an end is that their fans can now focus 100 percent of their attention on the Islanders without having to worry about things like “October baseball” or “the World Series.”

Sept. 25, 2013: unofficial Tweet Your Islanders Season Tickets day. Hockey’s almost here.

A rarity in the Twitterverse: an Isles fan patiently waiting for the season to start. I have to admit: this might be the first one I’ve seen all summer.

And so it begins. We’re still a week away from Islanders Opening Night on Oct. 4, but that doesn’t mean Isles Country would ever miss a chance to chirp rival fan bases.
