New York Islanders Tweets Of The Week

I hope everyone out there had a wonderful holiday and happy new year. We turned the page to 2014 and the Islanders are hoping that their recent run of play continues as the calendar turns.

Back to back road wins over the Minnesota Wild (overcoming a 3-0 second period deficit) and Boston Bruins (trailing 3-1 in second period) have given the team real positive momentum for the first time all season.

The task does not get any easier with the defending Stanley Cup champion Chicago Blackhawks coming into town for a 7pm faceoff this evening at Nassau Coliseum. The weather is forecast to be downright nasty with blizzard like conditions on Long Island, so anyone heading out for the game, please be careful and use extreme caution when driving.

Aaron Ness yesterday was sent down to Bridgeport after playing some of the worst hockey of his season the past week or so. With no news of Matt Donovan coming back up and no trade imminent, the feeling is that the move was made to activate Radek Martinek off the injured reserve list. The word on Lubomir Visnovsky is still mum from the organization, with no word of the defenseman even being cleared for off-ice workouts.

So, let’s jump right into Islanders social media, as we continue our tour with tweets of the week. Some real gems over the holiday and especially with the news yesterday that Kyle Okposo was snubbed from the USA men’s Olympic roster, despite being second among all Americans in the entire league in scoring, trailing only Patrick Kane.

Yeah – so this is probably the most awesome Christmas gift ever….I have not used a nightlight since that monster crawled out of my closet and I slayed him with my imitation light saber but might have to purchase this for the heck of it. ?

Whenever you get an Islanders spatula, you know it was a good holiday season. Now if they only developed a way to grill the Islanders logo into an 8 ounce beef patty, we are really talking some home cooking! 

Chris always is entertaining on the Twitter machine. The writer for Lighthouse Hockey with a Hubie McDonough reference earns him an easy spot in our list.

O’Malley tears it up in response to my tweet about traversing Manhattan during the holiday season.

Shane is not the busiest on Twitter (too busy producing our outstanding D&C podcast) but shows he still has mad skillz….Too bad Poile did not agree.
