Josh Ho-Sang talked to TSN 1050 Toronto today and he provided a ton of quality quotes in the interview. Here’s some of the best from the Islanders young forward.

New York Islanders star (Yeah, I said it, star) Josh Ho-Sang talked to the Toronto media today. If you follow him on twitter it should come as no surprise, the interview was chock-full of memorable quotes.

I want to give a quick hat tip to Rob Taub who live-tweeted the interview, we’ll be using a lot of those tweets in the article.  If you wish to hear the full interview you can check that out right here courtesy of TSN.

Without further ado let’s get into the quotes

This first quote ruffled a lot of feathers. Many fans were displeased with the notion of Ho-Sang implying that John Tavares should or is going to leave the team. If you really break down the quote and read it with the comma there’s a difference.

If you care about John Tavares the person *pause* (what should happen in your brain when there’s a comma) it doesn’t matter where he ends up.

Folks have to realize this is a business and that Ho-Sang is speaking as a friend/teammate of Tavares. You have to take off the fan glasses for half a second and realize the context of this quote. He’s right you know, we (The Islanders fan) care about Tavares the player, not the person as much.

Amazing. You’re going to get honesty and humor from Ho-Sang. Something rare from a hockey player, although something that should be encouraged nonetheless.

A perfect answer to a question on the number “controversy”. The 66 more things important right now than my number answer is gold because once again it’s true. At the end of the day who cares what number is on your back. There’s a lot more important things in the game and in life itself than a darn number.

An Islander focusing on speed rather than hits and grittiness? I can get used to this idea. Still foaming at the mouth over the thought of a Nick Leddy, John Tavares and Josh Ho-Sang overtime unit.

Love the confidence. It’s something that Ho-Sang’s never struggled with. He was on a pace for 39 points in his 21 games played last year. We’ll see how he does in year two and if he can build off that pace.

I’ll leave you with one more mic dropable quote

Say it louder for the people in the back Josh! We’ve been saying from day one, Toronto would love it for their golden boy to come home. It’s not feasible though and makes little sense.

Often times NHL players are expected to give the straight public relations jargon answers. I prefer the open and honest Ho-Sang. He said nothing bad and showed some personality. It’s a breath of fresh air to see something like it in the sport.
