New York Islanders captain and superstar John Tavares apparently, comes up in discussions between Geoff Molson and Marc Bergevin.

It’s troubling times for New York Islanders fans. The anxiety about John Tavares’ contract negotiations, in addition to the regular anxiety that comes with being an Islanders fan, is overwhelming.

So yesterday, when it came out that Canadiens owner Geoff Molson and general manager Marc Bergevin have discussed the idea of acquiring John Tavares, it’s understandable when fans feel uneasy.

Here’s the exact quote from Richard Labbe:

Taking off the blue and orange shades for a moment let’s talk about why Tavares’ name would come up in trade discussion. It’s easy to see why other teams are hoping Tavares wants out. Between the arena situation and the team’s overall underperformance over the last couple years, conspiracy theories that Tavares wants out are fruitful.

What they are missing in their theory is the numerous accounts of Tavares saying that he wants to stay with the Isles. The rest of the league doesn’t want to wrap their head around that which leads to a never ending carousel of hopes and dreams that J.T. changes his mind.

So as uneasy it may feel to hear that conversations are happening around the league, you must hold out until the news of the RFP because as we all know the fate of Tavares is linked to Belmont.
