New York Islanders left wing Anders Lee somehow didn’t crack the top-20 winger’s list according to the NHL Network. Here’s why that’s a huge snub.

Over the last two years, Anders Lee has combined for 74 goals with the New York Islanders. Only Alex Ovechkin, Patrik Laine, Nikita Kucherov, and Evgeni Malkin have more goals than Anders Lee since the start of 2016.

Yet somehow, the Islanders power forward isn’t on the top-20 list when it comes to best wings in the game. The top of the list makes sense with Nikita Kucherov, Alec Ovechkin and Taylor Hall taking the first three spots but after that, it begins to get a little fishy.

At the 20th spot Viktor Arvidson comes in with 60 goals in the last two years, 14 less than Anders Lee and fewer points than him in the 2017-2018 season. Anders Lee is better than Arvidson. Then, 19th is Brock Boeser. Brock Boeser is good, scoring 29 goals in his rookie year but he too is not as good as Anders.

Rickard Rakell is a goal scoring wing for the Ducks coming in at 18. He has combined for 67 goals over the last two years, seven less than Lee. Then 17th is Mikko Rantanen who is coming off an 84 point season his first breakout year in the league. I’ll give you him ahead of Anders Lee but then I’d put him right in at 18.

Lee is the best power forward in the game right now. The fact that they don’t have him represented on their list is a bad look for the power forwards in the game. The NHL overlooking the Islanders is nothing new, nor is this snub a surprise. The Isles are really going for that underdog feel this year.
