The Eyes on Isles Podcast returns for episode number 77 as Matt and Mitch will discuss all things New York Islanders on and off the ice.

With the calendar flipping to over to February, the trade deadline is becoming a bigger topic. The New York Islanders should be active at the deadline this year in order to put the team over the top for the playoffs.

Mitch and I will be discussing the link to Ilya Kovalchuk and other targets that we think would work. As for the product on the ice, one of the Isles lines is really struggling and that’s the Barzal line.

Anthony Beauvillier and Josh Bailey have struggled recently and the line needs a new look. Last night both Bailey and Barzal had some mental mistakes that led to the Bruins win over the Islanders.

In the AHL, Josh Ho-Sang was scratched in back to back games. Brent Thompson said that there isn’t an issue but we have other ideas.

The culture change is still going on, so we’re going to get into how its affected the team so far. With the Islanders in first place they’re ahead of schedule which is a positive sign for the future of this team.

Here’s what to expect from episode 77:

Topics

The trade deadline

The Islanders could make a move to improve the team for the playoffs. Ilya Kovalchuk’s name has been mentioned numerous times and Mitch and I will go over who we think should be traded for.

The Beauvillier – Barzal – Bailey line

This line has been bad over the last few games so we’ll discuss how the Isles can shuffle up the lines.

Josh Ho-Sang

Is Josh Ho-Sang’s time finally finished with the Islanders? It appears that way, so now we’ll say the Isles options with the former first rounder.

Culture Change

Have you noticed a culture change? It’s been pretty clear to us that the culture is already changed thanks to Lou Lamoriello and Barry Trotz.

Social

In the social segment, we’ll answer questions and talk about the biggest stuff from Isles Twitter this past week.

If you missed last week’s show you can catch up on it right here. Also be sure to follow along with us on social media @EyesonIslesFS on Twitter and on Facebook as well.
