After a six-point performance over the weekend, New York Islanders lightning rod, Josh Ho-Sang won AHL Player of the Week.
Josh Ho-Sang’s return to the AHL from the New York Islanders was not a smooth transition. After three consecutive healthy scratches, JHS finally made his way back into the lineup looking to perform again.
Ho-Sang’s value had plummetted. Again, he was being scratched in the AHL and he didn’t look like he had much of a chance to get the call back up to the NHL any time soon.
This past week may have saved his image with the Islanders front office. In the past two games, Ho-Sang has six points (4 goals, 2 assists) including a hat-trick on Sunday. Prior to this weekend Josh only had two goals in 37 games in the AHL. With four goals, he’s since tripled his goal total.
His week stood out to not only the Islanders but the AHL in general as he took home the AHL Player of the Week Award. He’s heating up right before the trade deadline which might prove beneficial to the Islanders.
If the Isles aren’t going to use him here, perhaps they can use him in a trade. His value has certainly gone down but using him in part of a multi-piece deal to land a top-six forward could be the move for Lou Lamoriello.
The next six days are sure to be interesting in terms of Islanders trade theories. Expect Josh Ho-Sang’s name to be mentioned frequently.
