The Eyes on Isles Podcast returns for episode number 112 as Matt and Mitch will discuss all things New York Islanders on and off the ice.
With three games under the New York Islanders belt, Mitch and I will return to discuss the first few games of the year and the biggest storylines to go along with them. There’s a lot to get into after last night’s effort.
Briefly, we’ll chat about the three games and what we noticed from them. Then, we will start to get into the micro topics that have come out from these games.
It’s early, but Anthony Beauvillier looks phenomenal through the first three games. He has four points, and two goals (came very close to a third hitting the left post in last night’s game too).
We have some off ice discussion with Mat Barzal to get into. The contract talks have begun, what do we think he’ll get from the Isles and should it be a long-term deal or a bridge deal for Barzy.
Finally, does it make sense to use Noah Dobson in the seventh d-man role and will it help or hurt his development?
Here’s what you can expect from episode 112:
Topics
Games
We’ll talk about the Islanders 1-2 start and what’s went well vs what hasn’t so far in the early part of the season.
Anthony Beauvillier is on fire
Is good Beau here to stay? With four points in three games, he’s on fire and hopefully, it keeps up. Does this merit a promotion to the second line.
Barzal contract discussion
Mat Barzal is due a new contract after this year, talks have started already. We’ll go over what we think he can get and if he signs during the season.
Dobson as the 7th d-man
Will he be able to thrive as the seventh defenseman and does this help or hurt Noah Dobson’s development?
Quiz
Mitch will pick someone from the 2012 draft class to quiz me on. It usually goes not so great for me.
Social
In the social segment, we’ll answer questions and talk about the biggest stuff from Isles Twitter this past week.
