With the New York Yankees eliminated, the New York Islanders are back to being the savior of New York sports for 2019-2020.
It was a tough weekend for New York sports. The Yankees got eliminated in the ALCS, the Rangers lost their fourth straight, the Giants lost their third straight, and the New York Red Bulls (if you care about them) got eliminated.
Well, I’m here to tell you the New York sports scene isn’t awful because there’s a blue and orange team that is the most well-run team in the city from top to bottom. No, not the Mets or the Knicks get serious, we’re talking about the New York Islanders.
Yes, for the second year in a row the Islanders are on pace to be the saving grace to New York sports. This past weekend they picked up their fourth win in a row putting themselves in a Wild Card position.
Yes, it’s early to talk about the playoffs, I understand that but this is the team in New York that you should have the most hope in right now. They have the best coach in the league, a Hall of Fame General Manager, and owners who actually give a damn if they win or lose.
So if you’re a depressed New York sports fan, hop on the Islanders bandwagon and enjoy the ride of a franchise that actually is run well and that has playoff aspirations. For Yankee fans, they can get you through the winter until opening day, and for everybody else, well, you know your team stinks.
