The Eyes on Isles Podcast returns for episode number 116 as Matt and Mitch will discuss all things New York Islanders on and off the ice.

Since the Islanders played last night, we had to push the podcast back a day. We have eight days of hockey to talk about and get you caught up, even with the big news from today. Andrew Ladd got waived.

In all likelihood this means that he isn’t ready to come back yet. We’ll see what the Isles plan is for him but it appears like he isn’t NHL ready yet, at least not to the Islanders standards.

We will go over the games the Isles played since the last time we chatted and the biggest storylines from these games. For example, the line shuffling.

The Islanders should keep Josh Bailey and Anders Lee together. Mitch and I will break down why we like that duo and what it means for the Islanders top-six vs what they are currently using right now.

Since the start of 2018-2019 the Islanders have the best 5v5 goalie in the league. Thomas Greiss leads the league with a .941 save percentage. Is he the best not talked about goalie in the NHL?

The Isles have also relied heavily on Adam Pelech this year. We’ll chat about how much has changed for him over the last calendar year.

Here’s what to expect from episode 117:

Topics

Games

Recapping the Islanders last week of games and plugging the Patreon page.

Andrew Ladd waived

The Isles decided to waive Andrew Ladd. He clearly isn’t ready to go just yet but it shows that Lou doesn’t care about what you make or if you’re a veteran or not. The best players will play.

Greiss is a beast

How under-appreciated has Thomas Greiss been for the Islanders? We will chat about the Isles goalie and how he is the best in the league at 5v5.

Adam Pelech

Adam Pelech’s ice time has skyrocketed over the last year. Why is he so reliable now and how is he impacting what the Islanders can do with their d-men?

Quiz

Mitch will pick someone from the 2017 draft class to quiz me on. It usually goes not so great for me.

Social

In the social segment, we’ll answer questions and talk about the biggest stuff from Isles Twitter this past week.
