The Eyes on Isles Podcast returns for episode number 118 as Matt and Mitch will discuss all things New York Islanders on and off the ice.
The New York Islanders are on an absolute heater as their point streak goes to 15 straight games. We’ll start off by talking about the games from the past week and plugging the Patreon for postgame content.
After that, we have to show some love to Derick Brassard. The man has been an absolute wagon since moving to the wing, and the Beauvillier – Nelson – Brassard line has been flat out stellar so far.
Can Barry Trotz win the Jack Adams again? It’s very rare that a coach wins it in back to back seasons but Barry is certainly making the case for himself again this year.
We’ll also look at the point streak and put it into context for team history and recent NHL history as well. Here’s a hint, the Islanders playoff chances are very high and going beyond just being a playoff team is absolutely possible (we’re talking contenders).
Lastly, we’ll get into the Ilya Sorokin news and what it means for the Islanders future in net.
Here’s what you can expect from episode 118:
Topics
Games
We’ll briefly talk about the games from this past week and what the biggest storylines are from each Islander win.
Derick Brassard
Brassard has to stay on the wing right? We’ll discuss why he’s been so successful on the second line and the importance of the Beau – Nelson – Brassard line.
Jack Adams again?
Can Barry win it again for the second year in a row? We’ll make the case for our HC to become the first to do it since the 1980s.
Ilya Sorokin
Sorokin wants to come to the NHL. So what does that mean for the Isles future in net with the “White Whale” coming over to the States?
Quiz
Mitch will pick someone from the 2018 draft class to quiz me on. It usually goes not so great for me.
