CSKA Moscow wants to re-sign New York Islanders’ prospect, Ilya Sorokin. They are prepared to make one of the most lucrative offers in KHL history.

Ilya Sorokin is probably the second most drama-filled prospect the New York Islanders have. The first is obviously Josh Ho-Sang but not too far behind is the Russian goalie who has put up video game numbers in the KHL.

Sorokin’s KHL deal is set to expire after this season and there’s a chance that he comes over to the Island, a pretty good chance. The thing that’s keeping it from going from pretty good to great is CSKA’s willingness to spend money.

According to The Hockey News, his KHL team is prepared to make one of the most lucrative offers In KHL history in order to keep Sorokin on that side of the Atlantic Ocean.

Sorokin isn’t ready to make any kind of decision just yet and he will likely wait until the summer to make his final decision. With Barry Trotz, Piero Greco and Mitch Korn the Islanders have a pretty solid support system for the Russian if he decides to leave his home country.

In 32 starts this season, Ilya Sorokin has a .931 save percentage and a 1.59 goals against average. He’s widely considered the best goalie not currently playing in the NHL and it’s easy to see why. If he does decide to come over to North America, it would be a huge get for the Islanders.
