It’s game time! Join our live conversation with the New York Islanders welcoming the New York Rangers to the Nassau Coliseum as they try to redeem Monday’s terrible 6-2 loss.

It was perhaps the worst loss of the season for the New York Islanders. Yeah, even after that 8-3 loss to the Nashville Predators in mid-December. Losing to the rebuilding New York Rangers 6-2 is worse.

The loss to the Rangers was the worst this season not only because it was against our bitter rival, but it was how it all materialized that gave it the “worst game yet” stink.

After completely dominating the first two minutes of the game the Islanders wilted like that flower you’ve been meaning to water for the last two weeks. After an incredible two minutes full of energy and intent from the Islanders the next 58 minutes, we’re lifeless.

And the Rangers made them pay for it. Specifically, Artemi Panarin who had himself a five-point night for the Rangers. His talent was there for everyone to see and for everyone who was wearing Blue and Orange to feel a little jealous of.

Imagine having Artemi Panarin and his talent’s that currently have him sitting with 67 points in 45 games, a pace of 122 points. Imagine Barzal and Panarin terrorizing defenses for the next seven years.

Tonight, the New York Islanders get to redeem themselves for that embarrassing loss.

Thankfully, the Detroit Red Wings came to town between the 6-2 loss and tonight’s game. Thanks to the Red Wings just about everyone for the home team got a point. Only five of the Isles 18 skaters were held off the scoresheet against Detroit (Derick Brassard, Matt Martin, Otto Koivula, Devon Toews, and Johnny Boychuk).

With that, the Isles should be feeling good about themselves as they welcome the Rangers to Long Island were nothing short of a Coli effort will be expected.
