The Eyes on Isles Podcast returns for episode number 127 as Matt and Mitch will discuss all things New York Islanders on and off the ice.
The New York Islanders have again gone 1-1-1 this week as they limped into the 10-day all-star break. Yes, they’re coming off a win from last night but it wasn’t without your third-period panic like we saw against the Capitals on Saturday.
If you like stress, the Metropolitan Division is perfect for you. The Islanders currently sit in third place trailing Pittsburgh by four points and Washington by eight. Below them is what nightmares are made of.
Carolina, Columbus, and Philadelphia are all right behind the Islanders within three points. So that’s the difference between first place and out of the playoffs. Three points.
Are the Islanders really lost without the 4th line? Yep, as crazy as it sounds this team is not nearly the same without the Martin – Cizikas – Clutterbuck line. Clutterbuck may resume skating after the All-Star break.
Looking at the deadline how aggressive will Lou Lamoriello be and are there going to be enough sellers at that point?
Here’s what you can expect from episode 127:
Topics
Games
The Islanders have stumbled this past week. We’ll start by talking about what we liked and what we didn’t like from the games this week.
Metro Race
Looking at the Division it’s going to be tight down the stretch. There’s very room for error between third and sixth place.
4th Line
We knew the 4th line was good and important to this team but it’s crazy the impact that the Isles have felt without Cal Clutterbuck around.
Trade Deadline
Who is going to be sellers and will there be enough players on the market for the Isles to do something effective.
Quiz
Mitch is going to quiz me on someone who played 27 games as an Islander. As you’d expect it usually doesn’t go very well.
Social
In the social segment, we’ll answer questions and talk about the biggest stuff from Isles Twitter this past week.
