The Eyes on Isles Podcast returns for episode number 129 as Matt and Mitch will discuss all things New York Islanders on and off the ice.
We’re back and we have some games to talk about this week! The Islanders returned from their long break with an overtime loss on Saturday to Vancouver followed by an overtime win over Dallas.
We’ll talk about those two different games, giving you context for episode 129. In addition to the games, we’ll talk about Kieffer Bellows getting the call up from the AHL and how he looked in last night’s win.
Standings wise, the Islanders continue to fall. As of right now they are the first Wild Card team and are three points out of a playoff spot. A big fall from grace after their hot start.
Also, there was a trade proposal that we want to talk about. Would you give up Kieffer Bellows and draft capital for JG Pageau and Ron Hainsey?
Here’s what you can expect from episode 129:
Topics
Games
We’ll start by going over the last two games and what went well and what didn’t. The Islanders are 1-0-1 since their break.
Kieffer Bellows Called Up
The Isles called up their 2016 first-round pick, Kieffer Bellows. Bellows was on a hot streak in the AHL before getting the call up to the Islanders and he looked rather solid in his first game.
Playoff Chances
At their lowest, they dropped to the second wild card. Now, they are currently sitting in the top Wild Card spot after spending a majority of the early season in second place.
Trade With Senators
We’ll go over the JG Pageau and Ron Hainsey trade proposal and if we think it makes sense for the Islanders.
Quiz
Mitch is going to quiz me on someone who played 29 games as an Islander. As you’d expect it usually doesn’t go very well.
Social
In the social segment, we’ll answer questions and talk about the biggest stuff from Isles Twitter this past week.
