While the New York Islanders were getting shutout in Vegas, the Kings were led to a 3-1 win over Colorada by Tyler Toffoli and a hat trick.

Last night was one of the more frustrating games for the New York Islanders. They finally received stellar play from their goalie and the offense went completely dead for the second game in a row. It was just another justification that the Isles need a trade.

So, while the Isles were allowing 43 shots on net and getting shutout a trade target was going off. Tyler Toffoli put his team on his back in the Stadium Series with a hat trick in the Kings 3-1 over Colorado.

With those three goals, he now has 18 on the season with 34 points in 58 games. Over a full 82 game season that is a pace of 25 goals and 48 points. Adding someone else to this team who can pop in 25 goals would make all the difference in the world and it shouldn’t be all that costly.

Early this year it was rumored that a second-round pick and a prospect would get it done to land Toffoli.

The Offer

Otto Koivula would be the prospect heading over to L.A. in this deal. In 34 games at the AHL level, he has 19 points (7 goals, 12 assists). In his first AHL season last year he put up 21 goals and 46 points.

He is very close to being NHL ready and he is someone who can play for the Kings in 2020 at 21-years-old. For the Islanders, they can afford to move on from Koivula if it is yielding a top-six winger like Toffoli.

The Lines

Lee – Barzal – Toffoli

Beauvillier – Nelson – Bailey

Bellows – Brassard – Eberle

Martin – Bardreau – Komarov

In this lineup, the Islanders are able to put a more offensive-minded third line out there. The veteran, Eberle gets some pressure off of him. He’s struggled this year with only 10 goals to his name.

Also, I would keep Kieffer Bellows here and in the lineup over guys like Michael Dal Colle, Ross Johnston, and Tom Kuhnhackl. His ceiling is much higher than all three of those guys combined and that third line becomes a really nice depth scoring line.
