The New York Islanders, who now need center help, should be all over JG Pageau at the deadline. He had another monster night last night for Ottawa.
With the trade deadline now five days away, the market is continuing to heat up. One of the guys that the Islanders should be all over is JG Pageau of the Ottawa Senators.
Pageau, who is now playing top minutes on a bad team, is putting up big numbers. His previous career-high in points was 43 coming in 2015-2016, he is now just three points away from that mark with just 58 games played.
Last night, Pageau simply went off against Buffalo. He had four points (2 goals, 2 assists) and over the last two games has made it six points (3 goals, 3 assists). That brings him up to 40 points and 24 goals on the season.
With Ottawa way out of it, they will likely be looking to move Pageau who can get them a haul on an expiring contract.
With the recent injury to Casey Cizikas and Derrick Brassard’s inability to play the center position anymore, this trade seems more necessary than ever. Bringing in Pageau deepens the Islanders lines, and they can go back to running all four lines. Lou Lamoriello should be all over this one
Potential Lineup
Lee – Barzal – Eberle
Beauvillier – Nelson – Bailey
Bellows – Pageau – Brassard
Martin – Komarov – Dal Colle
