The New York Islanders and Jean-Gabriel Pageau travel to Ottawa to take on the Senators at 7:30 p.m. Here’s everything to know about the matchup.

The New York Islanders are in desperate need of a win tonight after dropping their past four games (0-2-2). Last time out, the blue and orange had a poor showing in their 6-2 loss against Montreal at the Barclays Center.

To make matters worse, the Isles have dropped their past five road games (0-4-1). Their last road win came on February 10th against the first placed Capitals in Washington, where the Isles won 5-3.

The Isles have a great chance tonight to fix their road woes and win a game! They come up against the 29th placed team in the NHL, the Ottawa Senators.

The Sens are 2-2-1 in their last five and last time out they lost to the Penguins 7-3 in Pittsburgh.

The Season Series

The season series has been fun to watch if you are an Islander fan.

The first time these teams met was on October 25th in Ottawa. Tyler Ennis gave the Sens a 1-0 lead almost eight minutes into the game. The Islanders answered back with two Nick Leddy goals, one backhander and one penalty shot goal.

In the second, Matt Martin and Derick Brassard scored to put the Isles up 4-1. The third only had one goal, which was scored by Ennis. Thomas Greiss was awarded the 4-2 win.

The last time they met was on November 5th at the Barclays Center. The now Islander, Jean Gabriel Pageau started the scoring to put the Senators up 1-0. Less then a minute later, Cal Clutterbuck tied the game up. After that it was all Isles:

In the Second period, Cole Bardreau scored his first career goal on a penalty shot and the second ended 2-1 Islanders. Watch the goal below:

Both Casey Cizikas and Josh Bailey put the icing on the cake to give the Islanders a 4-1 win.

Interesting stat between these teams: Both times these teams have played, the Islanders have been awarded a penalty shot and scored both times. Will we see another Isles penalty shot tonight?

The Isles go for the season series sweep tonight!

Tale of the Tape

Betting Odds

The Islanders come into tonight as favorites, courtesy of the Action Network.

The Islanders are clearly the better team as shown by the tale of the tape. Also, they have dominated the season series. They should have a great chance to sweep the season series and take both points from the Senators!

Players to Watch

Jean-Gabriel Pageau

Welcome home JGP!

After 428 games with the Ottawa Senators, Jean Gabriel Pageau will be playing his first game in Ottawa with a different team.

It will great to see the reception Pageau gets from the Senator fans. Ottawa loved JGP and he, in turn, gave them many great performances. Including a 4 goal playoff game, with the double-overtime winner, against the Rangers:

It will definitely be fun to watch Pageau make his return to Ottawa and he is for sure the Islanders’ player to watch in this one.

Thomas Chabot

Want to talk about a game changer? Let’s talk about Thomas Chabot.

Chabot is one player that is extremely fun to watch and you also cannot miss him because he is usually on the ice for half the game.

Chabot leads the NHL in time on ice with an average of 26:01 per game!

His skating and vision make him one of the best defenseman in the league. He has six goals and 31 assists and the Islanders must shut him down to have success in this game.

Keep an eye out for Chabot in this one!

Potential Lineups

New York Islanders

One thing is for certain going into tonight’s game: The Islanders will make lineup changes.

The first change is on the blueline, where we will see Noah Dobson come in for the injured Johnny Boychuck.

Then for the forwards, it is expected that Otto Koivula comes in for Leo Komarov.

The last change will be in the net where Semyon Varlamov will start in place of Greiss, who got pulled after the first period Tuesday night.

The Islanders are expected to line up like this tonight:

Lee-Barzal-Eberle
Dal Colle-Nelson-Brassard
Beauvillier-Pageau-Bailey
Martin-Koivula-Clutterbuck

Greene-Pulock
Toews-Mayfield
Leddy-Dobson

Varlamov (Greiss)

Ottawa Senators

The Senators are led by their top line of Brady Tkachuk, Chris Tierney and Connor Brown. That is one line the Islanders need to shut down to have success in tonight’s game.

The Sens have had bad luck on the injury front with Christian Wolanin, Mark Borowiecki and Anders Nilsson all on the injured reserve.

Also, Marcus Hogberg and Artem Anisimov are both day-to-day and are not expected to play tonight.

Anthony Duclair is expected to be back in the lineup tonight after being day-to-day.

The Senators are expected to line up like this tonight:

Tkachuk-Tierney-Brown
Balcers-White-Ryan
Duclair-Paul-Hawryluk
Boedker-Peca-Sabourin

Chabot-Hainsey
Reilly-Zaitsev
Englund-Jaros

Anderson (Gustavsson)
