The Eyes on Isles Podcast returns for episode number 134 as Matt and Mitch will discuss all things New York Islanders on and off the ice.
The New York Islanders may never win again. There was a time earlier this season where it felt like the Isles wouldn’t lose a game (the 17 game point streak) but that couldn’t feel any longer ago at this point.
Since the last time we spoke, the Isles have gone 0-1-2 in their last three games as they are still somehow alive in the playoff picture despite their brutal collapse in recent weeks.
After going over the games we’d like to get into the Sound Tigers struggles and just how bad it’s been for them. How can the team be that bad and what does that mean for the future of the Islanders?
Johnny Boychuk is back skating already which is a great sign for him. Ideally, the Islanders veteran will be ready to go soon as Noah Dobson isn’t trusted enough by the coaching staff to earn more than 12 minutes a night at this point.
We’re also going to have to address some rumors when it comes to Mat Barzal and if he will have an offer sheet come his way. This summer can be some scary times for the Islanders RFA’s.
Here’s what you can expect from episode 134:
The Islanders are 0-1-2 in their last three games. What will it take for the Islanders to turn this thing around?
What’s up with Bridgeport?
Are the Sound Tigers really this bad? Is the pipeline something to be worried about if you’re the Islanders?
Boychuk is skating
After taking a skate blade to the eye it took 90 stitches to close it up. Just a week later he is back on the ice for the Islanders and inching closer to a return.
Barzal offer sheet
Do we believe the Elliotte Friedman rumor on the Barzal offer sheet?
Mitch is going to quiz me on someone who played 34 games as an Islander. As you’d expect it usually doesn’t go very well.
n the social segment, we’ll answer questions and talk about the biggest stuff from Isles Twitter this past week.
