Miss New York Islanders hockey? Some fans have simulated Friday’s result against the Edmonton Oilers and the results are good!

The suspension of the 2019-20 season is only a few days old, but we’re already feeling the effects without the New York Islanders on our TVs.

A number of intrepid fans fired up their consoles, popped in their copy of NHL 20 and simulated the game between the New York Islanders and Edmonton Oilers.

The two sides were scheduled to play on Friday in Edmonton. And judging on what result you believe, the New York Islanders left Edmonton with a much-needed win.

Edmonton Oilers Reddit

Result: 6-5 Loss

"Huge win for the Oilers from EdmontonOilers"

Full 20 minute periods will yield some wild results. Five goals in a single game from the Isles is wild enough. But then you notice there are 181 shots on goal between both teams. Wild.

Former Islanders draft pick Miko Koskinen makes a strong case for the 2020 Vezina trophy with a 92 save performance to give the Oilers the win.

The boys played some heavy hockey putting up 35 hits to the Oilers 18, but still came away with an ‘L’.

New York Islanders Reddit

Result: 1-0 Win (SO)

"I’m live simulating the rest of the season + playoffs in NHL20 and streaming it, tonight the Islanders beat the Oilers 1-0 in a shootout from NewYorkIslanders"

This is Barry Trotz hockey baby! A solid 1-0 win.

The Islanders get outshot (what else is new) but with 23 shots for and 26 against this actually resembles a New York Islanders hockey game. Not to mention the fact that they went 0/1 on the power play.

The Islanders don’t win the shot battle, but then again they rarely do. A shootout win and two points is a solid return for a team who’s been terrible on the road recently.

The Hockey News

Result: 5-4 Win (SO)

"Simulating The Season: What would happen if the NHL continued to play?"

Jordan Eberle puts up two goals, Mathew Barzal has two helpers, and Nick Leddy puts up his first multi-point performance since December 21 with a goal and an assist.

Typically, the Isles can’t get it done in regulation so they’re left to pick up the pieces in the shootout where they get the extra point.

Look I know they’re only simulations but at this point, I’ll take it. I’m still not settled with the idea that the NHL and specifically the New York Islanders won’t be on in March or maybe even April. Simulations will have to do.
