The world needed some happiness right now. This should put a smile on your face. New York Islanders Jordan Eberle became a father today.

It’s been a difficult week, month, year even. We’ve all needed something positive to cheer for. We just need a win, both on and off the ice. How does a New York Islanders player becoming a dad make you feel? I bet that puts a smile on your face.

Jordan Eberle announced on Monday that he and wife Lauren Rodych-Eberle welcomed a baby girl to the world. Welcome, Collins Rodych-Eberle!

I don’t know about you, but this is exactly the type of news I needed to hear right now. A new baby just immediately puts a smile on my face.

And welcoming another man to the Dad club is an absolute pleasure.

Notice anything about Collins’ birth weight? Both are numbers Eberle has worn in the NHL. Eberle wore 14 while a member of the Edmonton Oilers and is now wearing number 7 for the New York Islanders. Wild, right?

Everyone looks well and healthy and now everyone can share in the joy that a baby brings to the world.

This is a truly wonderful time in their lives. The NHL season might be suspended but being home to help with all of the day-to-day is going to be a silver lining for Eberle. Those first few days are incredible and something you don’t want to miss.

Sure, it’s filled with sleepless nights and a lot of scrambling. But it’s all worth it in the long run. I remember those nights well with both of my kids. Having to head out three days later for a road game in Toronto followed by one in New Jersey a few days later isn’t ideal when there’s a new baby at home.
