The Eyes on Isles Podcast returns for episode number 139 as Matt and Mitch will discuss all things New York Islanders on and off the ice.

Week 5 in quarantine! How’s everyone holding up? Personally, I’m about ready to combust so I’d mark myself down as not great in terms of dealing with the quarantine situation. Can you believe it’s been more than a month already without the New York Islanders?

While there hasn’t been games to talk about for the Islanders, we have some big news. Ilya Sorokin is coming from the KHL and he is expected to sign after April 30 when his KHL deal is officially over.

Additionally, we want to get into the NHL Draft and how much value there is with a third-round selection. Outside of maybe finding a goalie have the Islanders drafted well in that round?

Piggybacking off of that, we want to get into the best and worst drafts of the 2010s. We’ll go through each one and see if they classify as a good one or a bad one.

Here’s what you can expect from episode 139:

Topics

Sorokin

After hearing about him ever since the 2015-2016 season, Sorokin is FINALLY coming over to the New York Islanders.

Value in Round 3

You have some good, Ilya Sorokin and Adam Pelech, and some not so good like Eamon McAdam and Mitch Vande Sompel.

Best and Worst Draft Classes 2010s

We’ll go through the 2010s drafts and talk about which ones were the best and which ones were the worst and some that were bad but helped get good players in here via trade later.

Quiz

Mitch is going to quiz me on someone who played 39 games as an Islander. As you’d expect it usually doesn’t go very well.

Social

In the social segment, we’ll answer questions and talk about the biggest stuff from Isles Twitter this past week.
