As we celebrate the Fourth of July, what would some of the Islanders be at your local barbecue?

Fireworks, hot dogs and family barbecues go hand in hand as we celebrate the Fourth of July. If you’re barbecuing today, you know that there are essential items that you need in order to have the best party possible.

What we’re going to attempt to do is assign some of the Islanders to an item that you need at your barbecue and explain why they fit that role.

Let’s see how we do:

Barry Trotz – The Grill

Barry Trotz is the most important piece to the puzzle. Everybody who knows anything about the Islanders knows that to be the case. The same goes for a great BBQ. While the steak, burgers, hot dogs, chicken, etc. may get all the love, nothing is possible without the grill. The Islanders’ success is impossible without Trotz.

Mathew Barzal – The Fireworks

Like fireworks, Barzal is flashy, fun, and sometimes you look at the things that he does and think how is that even legal? Well, in most cases it’s not.

Anders Lee – The Beer

The Captain, Anders Lee is American born and raised and a little rough around the edges (on the ice). Lee is the 24 rack of Budweiser, American beer on the most American holiday of them all.

Brock Nelson – Hot Dogs

Hot dogs are essential at a fourth of July BBQ. Without them, the party loses its luster. Wait, am I talking about Brock or the hot dogs?

Matt Martin – Whiskey

Matty Marts is like taking a shot of whiskey. It stings at first, hits hard, but you feel good after it. It’s not essential to the party but it’s certainly a nice luxury to have.

Josh Bailey – The Lawn Games

When thinking of the Fourth of July, the food, fireworks, and pool are always mentioned first but to have a good party you need to have some cornhole or Kan Jam going. The lawn games are always underrated. Bailey is an elite lawn game, Josh Bailey’s cornhole.

Adam Pelech – Ice

You don’t realize how important it is until it’s gone.

Michael Dal Colle – The Person Not Dressed In Red, White, or Blue

They’re kind of just there existing, we’re not exactly sure why they’re at the party but I guess we’re happy that they’re here?

Jordan Eberle – Decorations

Every party needs some decorations. Are they the most important part of the day? No, but it’s important to have them. Eberle is not the most important player on the team but you need that second line forward to give you a little pop every once in a while.

Casey Cizikas – The Music

The music is usually just for aesthetics, and something in the background. But if you have an elite playlist it can make all the difference in the world. Cizikas is an elite fourth-line center and that line is the Islanders’ identity.
