The New York Islanders received some pretty high praise from NHL star, PK Subban on his podcast this past week.

In six playoff games, the New York Islanders are 5-1 and currently hold a 2-0 lead over the Washington Capitals. While many analysts like to look down upon the Islanders because of their lack of star talent and poor analytics, the team has received some high praise recently.

Old troll friend Nick Alberga called the Islanders “legit” last night after their win over Washington and he’s not the only one. Paul Bissonette of Spittin’ Chicklets is bought in and even some current players turned podcasters are jumping on the Isles train.

Listen to what PK Subban had to say on his show:

Nothing that PK Subban said is wrong. The Islanders are a team, when clicking on all cylinders, that is extremely dangerous due to their system. In the six playoff games so far we’ve seen it on display they are mowing teams down at 5v5.

They can hang with anyone right now. I’m not nieve, I’m not going to sit here and say they are a lock to go to the final or that a series against Boston, Carolina, Philidelphia, or Tampa Bay wouldn’t be a major challenge but I think they are proving that with their Head Coach they could hang with anyone.

The Islanders aren’t the most talented team in the playoffs, nobody will argue that. But you could make a legit case that they have the best coach in the sport and have one of the best if not the best defensive structures with the return of Adam Pelech.

Also, I wanted to close with this. I’m all about PK Subban doing content. More athletes, especially in hockey, should be doing content or building a brand. It’s an extremely smart long-term decision because as we know their careers in the NHL are limited.

Not everyone is going to like it, looking at you Mike Milbury, but I think it’s a good way to grow the game and build the sport. Thanks for being you, PK, and welcome aboard the Isles bandwagon, there’s plenty of room.
