Islanders Podcast Preview: Flyers Series Update and Storylines
By Matt O'Leary

The Eyes on Isles Podcast returns for episode number 159 as Matt and Mitch will discuss all things New York Islanders on and off the ice.
Well, the Islanders had a chance to close out the Philadelphia Flyers in Game 5 and were unsuccessful. So, we, unfortunately, can’t do a complete recap of the series but we have you covered through Game 5.
First, we’ll talk about the biggest storylines from the series including the goalies. Both Semyon Varlamov and Thomas Greiss have been good in the playoffs which is a major win for this team.
The special teams have gotten much better as well which is a big thing for this team as they were a disaster in the Washington series. Here’s what you can expect from episode 159:
Topics
Flyers Series
The Islanders are up 3-2 in the series and have another chance to close out in Game 6. We’ll discuss the big takeaways from each game and what has changed.
Goalies
Both goalies have played well for the Islanders, which is a good problem to have. We’ll talk about who will be in net in Game 6 and other potential lineup changes as well.
Special Teams
The Power Play has been better in this series, and the PK has as well. I’m not sure if it’s because the Flyers Power Play and Penalty Kill is also bad, but it’s good to see this team be semi-productive in special teams.
Quiz
Mitch is going to quiz me on someone who played 59 games as an Islander. As you’d expect it usually doesn’t go very well.
Social
In the social segment, we’ll answer questions and talk about the biggest stuff from Isles Twitter this past week.
