The Eyes on Isles Podcast returns for episode number 173 as Matt and Mitch will discuss all things New York Islanders on and off the ice.

Good news! It looks like we know for sure when Islanders hockey is going to return. The NHL is planning a January 13 return date and I for one am extremely excited to get the wheels in motion on a season.

This week we wanted to talk about Anthony Beauvillier’s success in 2019-2020 and what he believes the reason for it was. Also, what can we expect from Beau in 2021 will be a hot debate topic.

Next up, we’ll get into a dark horse option for line three. Both Mitch and I are high on Otto Koivula and think he’d be a good fit in the Isles bottom six this year.

Then it’s time for Mitch’s farm report. We have updates from the NCAA and what it means for the Islanders’ prospects with Finland’s stoppage. Here’s what you can expect from episode 173:

Topics

Beauvillier keys to success

Anthony Beauvillier gives some high praise to Derick Brassard and had some kind words for Barry Trotz and Lou Lamoriello as well.

Otto Koivula on Line 3

Mitch and I are both fighting for Otto Koivula to get a roster spot in 2021. We’ll make our case for the versatile forward.

On the Farm

Mitch has updates from the NCAA and Finland this week.

Quiz

Mitch is going to quiz me on someone who played 73 games in an Islanders sweater. This guessing game rarely goes well.

Social

In the social segment, we’ll answer questions and talk about the biggest stuff from Isles Twitter this past week.
