During a spot during The Rod Pedersen Show, Clark Gillies took some time to praise the Islanders’ new UBS Arena coming this year.
The New York Islanders are roughly 10 months away from opening their new building. UBS Arena is going to be a state of the art building that fans and players can both enjoy in 2021 and for many years to come.
Not only are the fans and players excited but former Islanders are thrilled about the new home as well. Clark Gillies in particular is thrilled for the arena to open.
He stopped by the Rod Pedersen Show to share his thoughts on Sask players, playing for Al Arbour, and the new arena:
The entire interview is a great listen but seeing his face light up talking about the new building and the future of this team. He called it “beyond state of the art”. Gillies goes on to say that the Islanders new dressing room is going to be more than double the size of the one at the Nassau Coliseum.
It’s honestly so cool to see how excited the former players are for the future of this team, a team they played for going on 40 years ago still means so much to them and that’s truly special.
Clark Gillies spent 12 years with the Islanders scoring 304 goals along the way all while helping the team win four straight championships. His number 9 is retired up in the rafters and you can bet that it will make its way over to Belmont when that building is ready.
