Islanders: 3 Players To Watch In Daily Fantasy 1-14-21

The New York Islanders are back in action for the first time this season! Here are three players to watch for in daily fantasy.

Hockey is back! After a long hiatus, the New York Islanders are returning for their season opener against the New York Rangers. This year, the Isles and Blueshirts faceoff eight times so it should be the first of many heated contests.

With the season only being 56 games, it’s important to capitalize on as many points as you possibly can early so that you don’t pull yourself out of the race too early.

If you’re looking to play daily fantasy tonight, I’ll give you three players to watch for in tonight’s matchup against the Rangers:

Anthony Beauviller

DraftKings: $5,400 | Fanduel: $5,600

This is phenomenal value for Anthony Beauvillier who always performs against the Rangers. In 14 career games against the rial Rangers, he has 15 points and nine goals to his name. With a strong playoff performance, many are calling Beau a breakout candidate in 2021.

He’s expected to play on the second line with Brock Nelson and Josh Bailey, so he should be in positions to put up points. Don’t be surprised if he pops in a goal or even two tonight.

J.G. Pageau

DraftKings: $5,400 | Fanduel: $4,800

Fanduel is giving you great value on Pageau at $4,800 for the game tonight. Like Beau, Pager has been phenomenal against the Rangers in his career. In 18 career games, he has 14 points (the most against any team in the league) and seven goals.

Pageau is going to be the Isles third-line center this year, and in the Barry Trotz system, he should get a significant amount of ice time in that role. I like him as a depth, low-cost daily fantasy play tonight.

Semyon Varlamov

DraftKings: $7,800 | Fanduel: $7,900

Semyon Varlamov will get the start in net for the Islanders tonight. Now, last year the Rangers were fifth in the league in goals so this play is a little bit risky but I’m betting on a healthy Islanders team.

When the team was healthy in October-December last year Varly had a .920 save percentage. Then again in the playoffs, he put up a .921 save percentage. I’ll take my chances that Varly plays well tonight.
