In practice over the weekend, the New York Islanders lost Michael Dal Colle. He was placed on IR with an undisclosed injury and has missed two games now due to it. Unfortunately, this comes at a particularly tough time for MDC.
He was coming into a nice little role on line three. In his absence, we’ll discuss what the Islanders have done with the lineup and what they could potentially do in the future if they wanted to change it.
Also, Semyon Varlamov has been excellent for the Islanders. He’s 8-4-2 with a .927 save percentage and a 2.06 goals against average. Is his play in net sustainable and Mitch has a theory on why this can continue going forward.
Lastly, Mitch has some prospect updates as he finally got to speak with Robin Salo. Here’s what you can expect from episode 184:
Dal Colle’s injury
We’ll get into Michael Dal Colle and his play so far before the injury. Then, we’ll discuss the lineup that they can have with his absence.
Varly, who was tremendous in the playoffs, has been just as good in 2021 for the Isles. We’ll talk about the numbers and just how good he’s been.
Down on the Farm
Mitch will share his updates on the prospects including nuggets from his interview with Robin Salo.
Mitch is going to quiz me on someone who played 184 games in an Islanders sweater. This guessing game rarely goes well.
In the social segment, we’ll answer questions and talk about the biggest stuff from Isles Twitter this past week.
