If you’re not buying into the Oliver Wahlstrom hype, I don’t know what you’re waiting for. Last night, he scored his eighth goal of the season in the Islanders 2-1 comeback win over the Philadelphia Flyers.

He now sits in sixth for the Isles in goals this year despite playing in only 26 games so far this season. He trails Anders Lee and Brock Nelson who are tied for the lead with 12 goals.

Ironically, his goal last night wasn’t displaying that beautiful shot of his. Instead, it was him putting himself in the right place at the right time.

He’s playing off of instincts right now. He put himself in a good spot down low where he figured a rebound might be and wouldn’t you know it, Brian Elliott couldn’t get a handle on the puck and Wahlstrom was right there to finish it.

After the game, Barry Trotz joked about hearing Wahlstrom sing on the bench. Trotz doesn’t mind Ollie staying loose, as it proves that no moment is too big for him.

Okay, can anyone find out for me what song Wahlstrom was singing on the bench? Is he a pop guy, maybe a little rap music? Heck, I know a lot of the European guys are big on electronic music maybe he picked it up from his time in Sweeden. Either way, I desperately need to know what Ollie is listening to so I can hop on the bandwagon.

The kid has 12 points (7 goals, 5 assists) in his last 15 games, clearly, he’s doing something right. Right now, he’s been an excellent running mate with JG Pageau and the addition of Anthony Beauvillier has really added some stability to that line.

Wahlstrom seems destined for the Barzal line one day but for now, let’s enjoy the Beauvillier – Pageau – Wahlstrom line as it proves just how deep this team really is *Temporarily ignores Leo Komarov on Line 1*.
