After Kieffer Bellows’ strong run in his first two games back, he has since been moved back out of the lineup in favor of Leo Komarov. The vet has been running alongside Mathew Barzal and Jordan Eberle on the top line for the Islanders.
We’ll start by getting into Komarov’s impact on the line followed up by what the trade market should look like. If that doesn’t indicate our thoughts about Leo on line one I don’t know what will.
Next up, we have to talk about Oliver Wahlstrom and Ilya Sorokin. Both rookies have been excellent for the team and deserve a little more Calder recognition. It’ll be a tough ask for them to win the award but don’t sleep on them either.
Lastly, Mitch has some updates on prospects from around the globe. Here’s what you can expect on episode number 188:
Topics
Komarov/Trade Options
Why Leo Komarov hasn’t done enough on the top line, and some options for the Isles to look at via trade.
Wahlstrom and Sorokin for Calder?
With their recent surge, we have to start mentioning both Ilya Sorokin and Oliver Wahlstrom in the Calder conversation. Go look at Sorokin’s numbers, they’re better than you think.
Prospect Report
Mitch will give us some updates on the prospects playing around the globe. This is always the segment where I’m envious of his deep knowledge of international hockey.
Quiz
Mitch is going to quiz me on someone who played 188 games in an Islanders sweater. This guessing game rarely goes well.
Social
In the social segment, we’ll answer questions and talk about the biggest stuff from Isles Twitter this past week.
