After a thrilling Game 5 win over the Pittsburgh Penguins, the Islanders hold a 3-2 series lead heading back to Long Island for Game 6. For the first time since 2016, they’ll have the chance to close a series out on home ice (in front of a crowd).
We will start with an update on the series. There’s been three games since we last spoke and after falling behind 2-1, it is now a 3-2 series lead for the Islanders. What got them there, and what we think will happen next will drive the conversation.
Also, Barry Trotz has switched back to Ilya Sorokin who has been unreal. We’ll talk about just how good he’s been and why it was the right move for him to get the start again in Game 4 and Game 5 this past week.
Lastly, we have a surprise signing to discuss in “Down on the Farm”. This is what you can expect from episode 197.

Series update
In Game 4 the Islanders were a dominant team winning 4-1 while on Monday night it was a much different story. They likely won a game they had no business winning against Tristan Jarry and the Penguins thanks to Sorokin.
Ilya Sorokin
Ilya Sorokin is back and boy has he been great. In three playoff games, he now has a .951 save percentage and a 1.66 goals against average. We’ll discuss the decision to make the switch.
Down on the Farm
Ruslan Ishkakov surprisingly signed overseas. We’ll talk about it and why Mitch was particularly surprised by the move.
Quiz
Mitch is going to quiz me on someone who played 197 games in an Islanders sweater. This guessing game rarely goes well.
Social
In the social segment, we’ll answer questions and talk about the biggest stuff from Isles Twitter this past week.
