It’s been a tough start to the New York Islanders season as they sit at 1-2-1 through the first four games of the season. Now, their road trip takes them out west where they will take on Arizona for the first time since 2020.
In their last five matchups, the Islanders are 3-1-1 with the lone loss coming on the road in Arizona. These two teams actually were trade partners in the offseason so we will likely see former friend Andrew Ladd who has been playing on the Coyotes’ second line with Johan Larsson and Ryan Dzingel.
On July 17, the Islanders sent Andrew Ladd, a 2021 2nd, a 2022 conditional second, and a 2023 conditional 3rd to Arizona for cap relief. Ladd has played in four games for Arizona and has two points (1 goal, 1 assist).
Arizona is off to a worse start than New York, as they sit at 0-3-1 through their first four games of the year. They rank 28th in goals for and last in the league in goals allowed with 22 (an average of 5.5 per game).
We’ll see if Barry Trotz shakes up the lines, as he was critical of the second line recently and we’ll also keep an eye on JG Pageau who was out with an illness on Thursday.
