The New York Islanders road trip is coming to an end after tonight. The Islanders have one more game before going home to the UBS arena on Saturday. Their final opponent; the Florida Panthers. The best team in the NHL.

Not only are the Panthers the best team in the league, but they’re also the only team to remain unbeaten at home with a 7-0-0 record. Not a great prospect for the Islanders who are on a three-game losing streak.

Tale of the Tape

The tale of the tape shows just how good the Panthers are. Look at the goals-for-per-game. They’re almost at four goals-for per game and have a lower goals-against average than the Islanders. The Panthers are winning through a “we dare you to score more” strategy, they’re a good defensive team too.

The only advantage the islanders have is on the penalty kill, and really, it’s barely an advantage with a PK that’s only 0.2% better.

The Islanders are going to have to play a good game to hope for anything tonight. Having played last night they’re already at a disadvantage.

Betting Odds

Which is why WynnBet has the Isles at a +150 money line while the Panthers are the favorite at -165.

New York Islanders Projected Lineup

Lee-Barzal-Parise
Beauvillier-Nelson-Palmieri
Bailey-Pageau-Wahlstrom
Martin-Clutterbuck

Pelech-Mayfield
Chara-Pulock
Greene-Dobson
Aho

Sorokin (Varlamov)

Casey Cizikas: Cizikas was seen skating with the extra before he left. So it’s entirely possible that he’s in the lineup tonight. The Isles are at their best when they roll four lines out. Not having Cizikas significantly impacts that.

Noah Dobson/Sebastian Aho: Dobson wasn’t skating with the extras this time around which could indicate he’ll be in the lineup tonight after being a healthy scratch last night. Aho wasn’t an extra, so maybe Trtoz is going 11F/7D.

Ilya Sorokin: Sorokin is getting the start tonight for the Islanders. He’s only played the Panthers once and that was at the start of this season where he went 0.828SV% and five goals against.
