With the New Year upon us, the time has come for resolutions. Resolutions are meant to change all those things that didn’t go well the year before. Depending on the specific circumstances, resolutions can target everything from getting healthy to becoming richer.

In this particular case, we’re going to be looking at three New Year’s resolutions the New York Islanders can take to heart in 2025. But more than getting fitter or richer, we’re going to be looking at how the Islanders can turn things around and potentially become the type of club everyone hopes it can be.

Stay consistent

Perhaps the biggest issue for the Islanders this season has been consistency. Throughout the season, we’ve seen some great games in which the Isles have played fantastically well for the whole 60 minutes. These games have showcased a dominant side of the team capable of shutting any club down.

However, we’ve seen all too often that the team plays well for 40 minutes and then struggles in the third period. Conversely, we’ve seen subpar efforts in the first or second periods before the team turns it up in the third. But it’s usually too late to turn up the heat by then.

If the Isles can remain consistent throughout 2025, there’s a good chance that the club can rack up more points and climb the standings. The Pittsburgh Penguins had similar issues earlier this season and managed to pull things together.

So, who’s to say the Islanders can’t do something similar and get their ducks in a row? The Isles are finally healthy and have the tools to make a run. It’s just a matter of keeping the team mentally engaged for a full 60 minutes every night.
