The Wild have been a team that many expect as a landing spot for Nelson. A Minnesota native, Nelson could be the player who puts them over the edge, and with plenty of cap space next year, could be a candidate for a new contract.

The Wild are without a first-round pick this season, but with arguably the best prospect pool in the league, Bill Guerin has options of who he could move in any potential deal.

Zeev Buium would be an ideal candidate, but it’ll be hard to pry him away from the Wild. A more likely target is forward Danila Yurov.

This may be more of a long shot, but is a player Lamoriello will likely inquire about.

The 24th overall pick in 2022, Yurov could have gone much higher, but at the height of Russia’s involvement in Ukraine, there was a lot of uncertainty around Russian players.

Yurov is currently playing with Metallurg Magnitogorsk in the KHL where he has 29 points (15 G, 14 A) in 46 games.

At 6’1”, Yurov is a menace in the offensive zone. He's an extremely strong skater with power behind his strides. He has a good release and more than capable hands.

Perhaps his best attribute is his motor. Relentless on the forecheck, Yurov has no issue with throwing his body around to retrieve the puck.

It’ll take a lot to get Guerin to move Yurov, but he could be the ideal candidate for the Islanders heading forward
