Last week, we found out that two NY Islanders prospects will join Team Canada at the World Junior Summer Showcase in Matthew Schaefer and Kashawn Aitcheson, and now we know four additional prospects will be attending the showcase for Team USA in Cole Eiserman, Kamil Bednarik, Jacob Kvasnicka, and Sam Laurila.
Eiserman was part of the team that took home gold at the 2025 World Junior Championship, scoring timely goals despite playing most of the tournament as the 13th forward. And how could anybody forget his chirp at Canada's Easton Cowan after a late goal against the Canadians?
4 Islanders prospects to represent the Stars and Stripes at the WJC Summer Showcase
Eiserman should be a lock to make Team USA's 2026 roster and will look to play a more prominent role as he enters his sophomore season at Boston University.
Eiserman's BU teammate and Islanders second-round pick in 2024, Kamil Bednarik, will participate in the summer showcase and look to make his first WJC appearance. Bednarik could slide into Danny Nelson's role from last season, who can play third-line center and contribute on the penalty kill.
Two of this year's draft selections, fifth-round pick Sam Laurila and seventh-round pick Jacob Kvasnicka, will make their first appearances at the showcase.
Laurila spent two seasons with the USNTDP, going undrafted in 2024, then joined the Fargo Force of the USHL, where he has taken his game to another level. He'll attend the University of North Dakota this upcoming season, and a strong start could see Laurila become an offensive contributor from the blue line for the USA.
Kvasnicka, the Isles' final pick in 2025, is the type of forward who can do it all. A Minnesota Native, Kvasnicka will play in the WHL for the newly formed Penticton Vees, in a league where he can pile on the numbers to further his case for a place in the lineup come the holiday season.
